Sell Student Games 2013

The 2013 Sell Student Games was recently held in Riga, the capital of Latvia and with the popularity of university sports it was yet again a top event. The opening ceremony was held in the Daugava Stadium on day one where all participants, organizers, spectators and more gathered for the famous university sports. A total of 17 different events followed during the action packed few days. The following student games where held at the following places in Riga:

• Basketball – Riga 49th Secondary School
• Basketball – Hanzas Secondary School
• Basketball – Lase
• Basketball – Riga 21st Secondary School
• Basketball – Riga Art and Design Secondary School
• Basketball – Riga Sanatorium Boarding School
• Chess – Riga Technical School
• Football – Olympic Sports Center
• Football 7-A-Side – RTU Football Center
• Judo – Olympic Sport Center
• Orienteering – Bikernieki
• Power lifting – Lido
• Rugby Seven-A-Side – Stadium Daugava
• Swimming – Kipsala Swimming Pool
• Table Tennis – Faculty of Chemistry, University of Latvia
• Track and Field Athletics, Stadium Daugava
• Volleyball – Olympic Sport Center
• Weightlifting – Dobele Sport Hall
• Wrestling – Lase
Closing ceremony of the university games was held in the respective competition places. Accommodation for students participating in the university sports was available as in other years at the following places:

In 2014 the famous Sell Student Games will be held in the university town Tartu in Estonia. Ever since 1923 the four hosting countries take turn to host this global event, which are open to university students globally. Finland, Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania each take a turn to welcome not only their countries’ students, but students from universities of other countries.
